About the Business

John Tarantino has operated his independent, family-friendly restaurant in Lincoln Park since 1995. You may know it from its cameo in the 2014 season opener of the television series, "Chicago Fire." At its heart, Tarantino's is a warm, inviting space, with guests from far and near coming to enjoy Italian-inspired dishes, such as the house made ravioli. Over the years, Tarantino has witnessed regular guests growing up with the restaurant, coming for first dates, and returning later to get engaged or married. Tarantino's can also be rented out for wedding receptions and other events.

Established in 1995.

Business Owner

John T. (Business Owner)

Restauranteur John Tarantino, owner of Tarantino's, has been in the restaurant business since he was a teenager, when he had a job waiting tables. In 1989 he opened Jim and Johnny's on Chicago Avenue. John launched Tarantino's in 1995, basing the menu on a fusion of American and Italian cuisine. John says, "My mother was an awesome cook. We would can bushels of tomatoes every September for her homemade marinara sauce. She was always cooking for friends and family. The idea of families sharing food is a basic instinct for me." As a result of this influence, many of Tarantino's dishes are family recipes.
