About the Business

Andina opened doors on June 15, 2003 as a result of the vision of Peter Platt, son of John Platt from Portland, Ore., and Doris Rodriguez de Platt from Cajamarca, Peru.

Peter's idea was to have a place where people could experience not only the unique and distinctive flavor of the Peruvian cuisine utilizing the freshness and the bounty of Oregon and the Northwest's products, but also to learn and appreciate the culture and history of Peru, through its food, ambiance and hospitality.

Peter's vision come as a result of being raised to respect and understand the principles, traditions and believes of both Peruvian and American cultures. Our mission is to create a bridge of understanding and appreciation between our guests and Peruvian cuisine and culture.

Established in 2003.

Business Owner

John and Doris P. (Business Owner)

John and Doris met and married in Peru 30 years ago. John was a Peace Corps volunteer in Cajamarca, Doris' home town.  John taught physics and Doris chemistry. It seems that chemistry and physics, working together under common ideals, plus the admiration from one to another made both of them to fall in love and marry in Jose Galvez, a small village of Cajamarca where Doris parents had married.
