About the Business

Mike Cox began the business in 1978 in a small, one bay shop in Troutdale. In 1981 he moved the business to Portland. In 1983 Gerard Lillie came on board as a partner. As the business grew, the three bay shop was soon too small, and they began looking for a larger location. They bought the shop at NE Halsey St. and 60th in 1988. They operated both locations for several years. Mike moved back to his home state of Michigan in 1994, and at that time Gerard became sole owner. He operated both locations until 1997 when he decided to combine them into one shop at the larger NE Halsey St. location. John Has work at PDX Automotive since 1992 he purchased the business from Gerard in February of 2017 when Gerard retired.

We at PDX Automotive are proud of the certifications our technicians and the shop have earned. We have been in business since 1978. We service all domestic, Asian, VW and Audi cars, trucks and SUV's, and hybrid vehicles. All of the technicians are ASE Certified Master Techs with years of experience. In addition, each technician has the ASE advanced L-1 certification, allowing us to diagnose the most difficult problems. We perform everything from oil changes to engine changes. Examples are: brakes, water pumps, radiators, alternators, electrical problems, belts, 30, 60 and 90,000 Mile Scheduled Maintenance. We can perform ALL new vehicle scheduled maintenance services. Remember, you DO NOT have to have the dealer perform these Scheduled Services. We will only perform the necessary services your vehicle requires and will recommend services that can be performed at a later date, if needed.
