About the Business

George Burns started Short Moves out of frustration with working for other local moving companies. Movers would not be upfront about charges, giving low estimates to get more work, and using inexperienced temp-labor to move their customers, then doing nothing about damages.
Not the way George wanted to do things.
We are truly a business built on repeat and referral customers. We want to do a good enough job that you'll tell your friends and neighbors about us, and if you'll ever have the need for a mover again, you'd call us first! We never overbook our schedule, and have never missed a commitment. Our movers are all full-time employees, and come prepared to make your move day a breeze!
In 2010 we started our own consignment service. If you are getting rid of things while you move, we can help sell it for you. Ask us about Consignment House!!

Hi I'm Steve, My father George started Short Moves when I was 2 years old in 1990, so I have been at Short Moves pretty much my entire life. Short Moves is a great company to work for because we are honest with our customers, we treat our employees fairly, and I get to spend time with family. The crew we have is like family too because of the kind of people we employ and the length of time we have employed so many of them. Our guys get requested over and over again to move the same families and their referrals over the years. Throughout my years in high school and my first years of college I moved plenty of families while working on the trucks. In 2010 I moved into the Short Moves office and now help by phone and with scheduling.
