About the Business

Established in 1996 by proprietor Steven Perricone, the property was originally an early 20th century home which was supposed to be the inspiration and structure for the restaurant. However, during renovations part of the roof collapsed, rendering the building unusable. Undaunted by this setback, Steven traveled to Vermont in search of, (and eventually found), a wooden barn circa 1700s. The barn was dismantled and shipped to Miami for which would eventually become Perricone's Marketplace & Café. The rustic wooden beams, walls, and flooring created an establishment that is bucolic, warm, and inviting. The architecture and design of the marketplace and restaurant wonderfully complement the natural environment of the park which surrounds Perricone's. Massive Banyan and Oak trees shadow our open air dining rooms, providing a dining experience that is unrivaled.

Steven Perricone, owner of Perricone's Marketplace & Café, was born in Brooklyn, NY, where he began his career at an early age as a nightclub party promoter. Eventually he took his talents to the Hamptons, where he opened his first club, and then to the Bahamas, opening his second establishment. After years in the nightclub business, Steven decided to expand his business endeavors into the restaurant industry, opening various locations throughout the Miami area. For years prior to 1996, Steven conceptualized what would become Perricone's, drawing upon his Italian-American roots and New York exposure to food, drink, and hospitality. A vast majority of the recipes used at Perricone's are originally derived from Steven's mother and grandmother, both who were accomplished home cooks. Everything you find at Perricone's is a reflection of the passion for fine food and drink which Steven holds close to his heart.
