About the Business

The restaurant is based in a former public house dating from 1719 and has many of the original features including a uniquely high ceiling. Pictures by a local artist adorn the walls helping create an ambience that is inclusive and atmospheric.

Why call it Verdi's ? Firstly Nonno ( or grandfather ) walked from Parma to London via Paris at the beginning of the 1900's. Pictures of his London café proudly hang in the restaurant. Secondly Mr. Giuseppe Verdi is probably Parma's most famous son and apart from penning a few operas was a renowned 'foodie'. Musical instruments adorn the restaurant including a piano played at the weekend by professional musicians.

Verdi's is a family run Italian restaurant in Stepney East London specialising in authentic Emilia Romagna regional cuisine. We are renowned for our pasta dishes using fresh pasta handmade daily on the premises by experienced Italian chefs. Our specialties, rarely found elsewhere in London, is our Torta Fritta and Pumpkin Ravioli. It would not be a Emilia Romagna restaurant without our Italian wines, including the unique sparkling red Lambrusco.
