About the Business

With a name like “The Frosted Pineapple” people can’t help but ask, “what’s behind the meaning? “Frosted” is a classic term for traditional highlighting. I have always loved 70’s rock and vintage decor, so the salon has a very mid-century/eclectic design. When you look up “frosted”, it states “a scattering of sparkling hues”. All throughout the salon we have mixed metals, such as gold, bronze and silvers.

The Pineapple is a universal sign of welcome and hospitality, and I want everyone to get the warm fuzzies every time they visit. We are located in the heart of historic Middletown off the very charming Main Street.

We want nothing more than for our clients to feel an overwhelming sense of warmth and positivity when they walk through the front door. Yellow is also our signature color and you’ll see pops of it here and there in the salon.

Our goal is to make you feel better on the inside as well as the outside when your service ends. We look forward to making your day!

We are a warm and welcoming boutique salon in the heart of Middletown. We specialize in multi dimensional color and top of the line haircuts and updated styles. We use Moroccan oil color, products as well as surface, Amika and Eleven Australia. You will be sure to walk out of the salon looking and feeling your absolute best. Melissa is accepting new clients and has been in the industry for 16 years. She is positive she can transform your look and also give you a good laugh along the way. Hi! I’m Melissa Sowder, owner and master stylist at The Frosted Pineapple. I graduated from the Aveda Frederic’s Institute in Indianapolis in 2007. After hair school I had a rigorous apprenticeship training in Louisville.
