About the Business

The Barber Shop has been offering traditional barbering for men and modern hairdressing for ladies and children since 1992. Philip Nunn took over the business in 1997 after a career as a creative director at Review Hairdressing. Philip is joined by Rob MacGovern (previously Toni & Guy), Emma Emberson and Sarah Amos. The Barber Shop was ranked in the top 100 mens' UK hairdressers in 2010. We specialise in offering restyle advice and colouring. We have a fresh approach to hairdressing to ensure that the experience our customers have is relaxing, enjoyable and most importantly something they wish to have again.

A fresh approach to traditional barbering by offering modern trends and styles as well as traditional hot towel shaves and complimentary eye brow and facial hair trims. We offer our ladies a full range of hairdressing services including colouring. Children are most welcome in our salon. We try to ensure that our customers feel relaxed and at home in our salon. Free parking is available for clients behind the salon and in front via meter parking.

Philip completed his hairdressing apprenticeship in Brentwood before travelling and working abroad.  He returned to Brentwood to take up the role of Creative Director at Review Hairdressing before moving to The Barber Shop in 1992.  Philip took over in 1997 and has been a hairdresser to both men and ladies since.  Philip and Sarah were both commended for their mens' hairdressing skills by American Crew in 2010 as part of the Top 100 UK Mens Salon of the Year Awards.
