About the Business

Afghan Village Restaurant was founded in 2013 by Omer Yousafzai and his family. When they realized that there is no good Afghan restaurant in Houston, Texas, they decided to open one in the Gulfton area, located in the South West Houston.

Given the opportunity to make a fresh start and do something creative, Omer decided to make a career out of something that had been his hobby for years: COOKING.

Omer completed his Law degree at SMU, Dallas, TX, and worked with people from all over the world. Anybody that tasted his cooking, asked for the recipe. His friends always joked with him and told him that law school is not for you, you need to COOK. They were right, Omer finally decided to open this nice little spot in Gulfton area that serve Halal Afghan food.

Houston Chronicle, Michael Berry Show and other local newspapers already talked about this location and even called it one of the best spots in Houston.
