About the Business

Phil & Derek's was originally created in 2008 by founders Phil & Derek who opened in a small old wood framed house in the River Oaks neighborhood. Phil had been in restaurant management for over 20 years when he convinced Derek to invest in a restaurant concept which was to provide Houston with the best southern styled Cajun-Creole food complemented by live music and entertainment!

Derek, left the business after only a few years and Phil struggled to keep the concept afloat until he met with John & Shon Cruise in 2016. With their financial support and added business savvy they expanded the concept to its current location, added a full-bar and outdoor seating and expanded the days of operation to seven days per week.

Phil & Derek's Restaurant has become a mainstay in Houston's dining and nightlife since 2008. We are "the" place where you can come and partake in the very best of Black culture as it relates to southern food, music and hospitality. Please enjoy.
