Pandan, or pandan leaves, is a tropical plant common in Thai cooking. Its characteristic fragrance is similar to that of white bread, jasmine and basmati rice. The leaves are long and bright green; when pounded or ground, they lend a sweet aroma to desserts, drinks, and savory dishes.
