Prior to the Outlet, Opitz conducted Estate and moving sales.  They began the Estate Sate business in 1982.  That company grew to 40 employees and handled some of the most memorable estate sales in Minneapolis and St Paul.   In 1987 they conducted more than 150 sales.  The company began liquidating other types of property and  assets for some the banks in Minneapolis.  It wasn't long after that when Opitz began to deal directly with many other stores and factories providing designer fashions.   What followed was the beginning of Opitz Outlet soon after.
