About the Business

The journey to opening Statement had been full of hills and valleys. Stacey's jewelry career started by chance, while living in New Zealand in 2004 where she walked passed a bead store everyday on her way to work. She wandered in one day, and has been making jewelry nearly every week since.

Upon returning to the states, she did the art show festivals circuit for a few years, which was wonderful. One day her husband, who had spent his evenings over the last year looking for a site for his new business venture, came home and said, "I found the perfect spot!".

He had stumbled across a tiny exposed brick lovely space in South Minneapolis. It was perfect. She and her husband opened Stacey Johnson Jewelry in 2009. After a fire from Heidi's restaurant next door left her shop in ashes, it was time to look for a new location.

The idea for Statement was inspired by her father who was always giving back to his community. In 2012, her shop opened and they've been giving back ever since.
