About the Business

Michael Garman began building Magic Town in 1975 as a home for his sculptures. Magic Town is Michael Garman's personal autobiography, depicting life in the various cities he lived in over the past 7 decades - Dallas, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Manitou Springs, Buenos Aires, Santiago and more. It took over 10 years to complete the first phase of this miniature city, and another 40 years to complete his vision.

Each building is handmade with intricate attention to detail. Hundreds of characters inhabit the cafes, sidewalks and tenement apartments in Magic Town. Each one invites you to peer into their lives as they reveal personal stories of grit, determination and humor.

All admissions include a complimentary bag of popcorn and a scavenger hunt. By searching for hidden treasures in Magic Town, visitors are encouraged to peer into windows and down magical alleyways as they uncover mysteries and hidden stories.

Established in 1975.

Business Owner

Michael G. (Business Owner)

Michael Garman began sculpting in 1959 in the midst of a 2-year vagabond voyage across South America.  hitchhiking from town to town, Garman eventually wound up in Santiago Chile where he talked his way for free into the School of Fine Arts.  He began sculpting little characters based on the people he met in his travels.  When he returned to the US in 1962, Garman continued to perfect his craft--all the while paying homage to the traveler, the wino, the street character.
