Juan in a Million has been serving up some of the best breakfast and lunch in Austin since 1980. In the 36 years we've been open, we've never strayed from our community-minded approach to business. We are local, and we support local. Our mission is to provide our community with generously portioned and flavorful Tex-Mex meals that won't break the bank. In the summer of 1980, two school teachers opened a restaurant in East Austin on a mission to revolutionize breakfast. Nearly 40 years later, Juan in a Million's authentic Mexican cuisine has become famous both in Austin and around the world. Some say our legendary Don Juan taco, a heaping plate of bacon, potatoes, eggs, and cheese served on a warm tortilla, could even feed a family of four. This monster of a taco was even featured on Travel Channel's Man vs. Food. Since we first opened, our restaurant has felt like an extension of our guests' homes, and they count on a handshake and a big smile every time. Juan has been in the restaurant industry for nearly 40 years. Prior to opening Juan in a Million with his wife, both worked as school teachers, and Juan worked in a restaurant as a side job. While working at the restaurant, Juan realized his passion for cooking and decided he wanted to open a restaurant of his own. After overcoming many obstacles, Juan and his wife were able to open Juan in a Million in 1980. For the first several months, Juan in a Million was a two person operation -- he and his wife ran every part of the restaurant on their own. When business really picked up, they hired on an excellent team of cooks and servers, many of whom are still a part of the Juan in a Million family. Juan is truly a community-minded individual who loves being able to give back to his community at Juan in a Million.
