About the Business

1st generation Italian-Americans Pietro & Antonia (Sgro) Iaria began serving pasta in a grocery store settling on "Iaria's Corner" in 1913. They took in borders and fed workers from a local rubber plant. In 1933, they gave birth to Pete Iaria's Restaurant. The restaurant was turned over to their son Matthew Iaria & his wife Santina (Bondi) in 1949. The current structure of the restaurant was built in 1954. And other than the original family living room being where the dining room sits today, not much has changed. In 1992, Mate decided to turn the restaurant over to his son Nick and his wife, Kathleen where they ran Iaria's with their daughters, Santina & Gina until 2003. Fourth generation family members, Matthew Iaria & Carla Russell have continued the tradition ever since.

Iaria's specializes in sweet Sicilian sauce over pasta and traditional Italian cooking. Four generations of the Iaria Family have been serving antipasto, pizza, lasagna, & spaghetti on this corner for over 90 years. Our pizza dough and sauce are still made from scratch. Pizzas are served on a thin crust. Our meatballs, Italian sausage, tiramisu, roquefort and all sauces are made in house. Our menu offers 3 different seafood options and to add a little spice try the Fettucini with Clam Sauce or the Chicken Drogato. We offer an extensive wine & cocktail list as well as domestic, imports & craft beer. Our staff is friendly and works hard to make our guests' experience both comfortable & enjoyable. Iaria's is retro to its core. The exterior and interior still have original red & green neon and the walls are lined with celebrities, friends & family.

Matt Iaria and his sister Carla took over Iaria's in 2003 and began the 4th generation of family ownership.  Matt enjoys getting to know  local customers and the special occasions that are celebrated at the restaurant.  It's also a good time when  out of town guests are in for special events or just passing through Indy!
