About the Business

The first full service Italian Restaurant in Indianapolis, originally opened in 1930 by Fred Iozzo and sons Dominic and Vincent and was located at 117 N. Illinois Street. They then moved the restaurant to 32-34-36 S. Illinois Street and had a dinning room that sat 500 guests and a banquet room that held 300. It was the premier dinning destination in Indianapolis during the 1930's. A tragic accident that occurred in October of 1940 is what eventually led to the closing of the Restaurant. Over sixty years later the great granddaughter of Fred Iozzo reopened Iozzo's Garden of Italy downtown just a few blocks from the original restaurant. Iozzo's reopened in August of 2009, and now serves lunch and dinner once again to downtown Indianapolis.

Established in 1930.
