About the Business

After spending a decade working in stop-motion animation, owner Amy Wulfing wanted to connect with her own creative inspiration. Inspired by Cargo, she opened Hello! Good Morning! in 2015. Her aim was to create a sort of laboratory of joy: she would travel and bring home wonderful things to sell; share the work of artists throughout the world; host makers' workshops with kids; and, above all, create a fun place for kids of all ages. Being invited into the Cargo Emporium was both an honor for Amy and a perfect fit for Hello! Good Morning!

As a result, Hello! Good Morning! specializes in objects that spark delight. Amy says she chooses "things I find traveling, a little bit of vintage, graphic art, folk art, and handmade things, and work from both local artists and artists from around the world." She especially likes objects that encourage creativity, and, as she points out, "every item tells a story."

Hello! Good Morning! is a unique Portland gift shop and toy store. Fun for kids and grownups too! Visit us inside CARGO at 81 SE Yamhill St. There is a parking lot in the back of the building. Eclectic and whimsical, we carry unique toys and games, beautifully illustrated children's books, kawaii Japanese stationery, one of a kind vintage, cool folk art, funky home decor as well as handmade gifts by local NW artists. We seek out delightful alternatives to mainstream brands and travel several times a year to bring interesting and unconventional art, fun toys, and crafty gifts from other countries. We specialize in Japanese imported gifts such as textiles and kawaii stationery.
