About the Business

Supis Sungkamee, our 88-year-old mom, bore 12 children in Southern Thailand and instilled in us a passion for authentic Thai cooking. In 1990, she won a lottery for a U.S. green card which allowed our family to become US immigrants and eventually US citizens. We are blessed and grateful to be able to share our family's recipes. Emporium Thai has become a favorite destination for those who appreciate fine Thai cuisine. Mom is so proud!

Our Executive Chef, Gina Sungkamee, is passionate about cooking. She studied for four years at Bangkok's most prestigious culinary school. She specializes in the cuisines of all regions of Thailand, particularly the cuisine of Southern Thailand, where our family grew up. In the interest of supporting local growers, we purchase our vegetables from the nearby farmer markets and we shop for fresh seafood, meats and produce daily.

John started Emporium Thai Cuisine in 2000 with his brother Chef Tui Sungkamee (currently at Jitlada Thai) and sister Chef Gina (Master Chef at Emporium). John and his siblings were born in the small village in the south of Thailand called Pak Phanang which is a district of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, southern Thailand. Everyone learned how to cook native Southern Thai food at young age. John and family have many home cooking recipes hand down from our family for generation.
