About the Business

With a passion for home cooked meals made by Abuelo and Abuela and the drive to share it with the local community on April 1st of 2016, Caja Caliente was born! Owner Monica Leon started her culinary career as a blogger while living in New York City with her sister. When she moved back home, she decided to take her foodie expertise to the next level and started a catering business called MikaBites. With the help of her "Mami", Lupita, they baked countless empanadas and pies that sold to local restaurants all over Miami. The success of this small business took off fast and it was at that moment when Monica decided "I'm opening a food truck". Since then, our food truck is more alive than ever in Wynwood. Mika has filmed with Food Network twice amoung many other network TV channels, and on May 11, 2019 we opened our first Brick and Mordor restaurant in Coral Gables. As far as the story behind our famous "Cuban Tacos" you ask? Well, why not!
