burger-chan was opened by husband and wife duo Diane and Willet Feng in April of 2016 down in the Greenway Plaza food court in Houston, TX. Back then it was known as Kuma Burgers, but a trademark dispute forced them to change the name to burger-chan in 2017.

burger-chan has been listed as one of the top restaurants in Houston by food critics and foodies alike since it opened as Kuma Burgers back in 2016. The Houston Chronicle has listed burger-chan as one of the top 100 restaurants in Houston since 2016.

Unfortunately in August of 2020, burger-chan permanently closed its Greenway Plaza location due to COVID-19.

After being closed for over a year, burger-chan re-opened in their new brick-and-mortar location in the Galleria-area in January of 2022.

In 2023, Yelp ranked burger-chan as one of the top 100 restaurants in the US.
