About the Business

Daryl Burdick, my father, established Burdick's locksmith Service in 1959. For a few years, like many start-up companies, he worked from his home in Columbia City. My mother, Arlene, manned the phones and did the books. In time they rented a small storefront on Rainier Avenue close to Alaska Street. This is where my three brothers and I learned the art of Locksmithing. Burdick's Lock was born and raised in "The Rainier Valley".

In 1987 we purchased Burdick's Lock from my parents and renamed it Burdick's Security Hardware Service Inc. We wanted the name to reflect the scope of business we provided. Although locksmithing was still a large part of our business, we were growing the commercial door hardware, safe and security system side of the business as well.
