Publisher of the Victoria Dining Guide, Matthew Takoski bought the Baan Thai Restaurant in Victoria when the previous owner fell ill. It was a way of continuing what was then one of Victoria's only Thai restaurants. But more than that Taoski had strong desire to support the members of the Thai community who worked there. "I had spent a lot of time in Thailand and really enjoyed the food, which was taking the world by storm, and I also developed a place in my heart for the Thai people." Takoski recalls. That's all it took and I made a five-minute decision to purchase the restaurant."

Matthew Takoski, publisher of the Victoria Dining Guide, bought Baan Thai Restaurant in downtown Victoria when the previous owner fell ill. "It was a way of keeping, what was then one of Victoria's only Thai restaurants, alive so the people of Victoria could continue to experience healthy and delicious Thai Food." says  Takoski. "I also had strong desire to support the members of the Thai community who worked there. I've  spent a lot of time in Thailand and really enjoyed the food, which was taking the world by storm, and I also developed a place in my heart for the Thai people." Takoski recalls. After the purchase 17 years ago Baan Thai really took off and has become a staple in the Victoria restaurant scene. They now offer Thai Food to residents in the greater Victoria area from three locations. Thai lovers in downtown Victoria enjoy dine-in, take-out and delivery from the flag ship store while residents of Oak Bay and Broadmead (Royal Oak) enjoy the same selection of services.
