About the Business

We opened Abode in 2013 in the start-up shoppes within The Shoppes on Fatherland. Abode began as a gourmet and entertaining store with a small home decor and gift area. Over the years we shifted the focus of the store to be more of a gift and home store with a gourmet/local food section and re-branded the store as Abode Mercantile.

Since 2013 we have grown and expanded our product offerings by incorporating more local and southern made items. In 2016 we moved to our new, larger space within Fatherland Corner, which is located beside our original location - all within The Fatherland Shopping District of trendy and historic East Nashville.

Over the years our shoppe has become a destination for unique and quality products at reasonable prices. We carry a wide variety of items for your home, bath and body, pantry or that special gift. Come experience our southern hospitality and pickup that special item for you or someone special.

We opened Abode Mercantile in 2013, approximately 1 year after opening our other store - Baxter Bailey & Company (a local pet boutique).  In addition to our love for animals we have always loved home decor, decorating, and gifting (among other interests).  We believe in supporting local artists and work to incorporate as much local and southern made products as possible.  We spend an extensive amount of time and resources making and curating a variety of products that we hope will be that special item for your home or the perfect gift for someone special.  Opening Abode Mercantile has allowed us to expand into other areas that we are passionate about.
