"Serendipity" has always been a part of Julie's life - from a young age she was drawn to entrepreneurship. At seven years old, she sold handmade driftwood decor and woven pot holders on the steps of the State House in Augusta, Maine. At age 16, she opened her first brick-and-mortar retail store inside her mother's cosmetics shop. After meeting Ken, her husband of 35 years, and starting a family, Julie decided to bring business under her own roof. She applied for and received a $2,500 small business loan for women and used it to open an antique store inside her Victorian home in Maine, which she successfully ran with Ken for twelve years.
