About the Business

We are proud to be located in our unique seven-story brick building that dates back to 1883. In the 1890s, the building was occupied by a glass mold factory, jewelry manufacturers, printers and lithographer's offices. In 1907, the Diamond Point Pen Co. occupied the building, and in 1935, a jeweler was located here. Con Edison owned the structure from 1961 until 1975. Then came our facility, an authentic Russian bathhouse where you can find great quality steam and other body treatments.

If you're in the mood for some old-school Russian schvitzing and blintzing, grab a group of friends and head to Spa 88, where you can drink, eat and party the way you've always wanted to... in your bathrobe. Upon arrival, grab a locker key, a halat (robe), and meet up in the predbannik, a dim lounge with large leather couches separated by ornate screens and covered with sleeping Russians. Flag down a waitress for some beer, tea or kvass (Russian fermented rye bread beverage) to kick off the night, then venture out to the maze of rooms hiding co-ed saunas. Bear the sauna as long as you can, then jump in the ice-cold plunge--it hurts, but it's worth it for the post-douse rush. Smoke your cigar in the leather-seated cigar lounge upstairs, then enjoy a Russian picnic--borsht, blintzes with red caviar, and of course, quintessential spa fare pickled herring--all without leaving the comfort of your robes.
