About the Business
Like all school buses, this one was yellow, but, instead of children, George Van Beek packed his bus with a soil mixture he had developed on his family's farm. An ideal combination of topsoil, fibre and compost, George called it "Van Beek's Premium Original Mixed Soil" and he began to offer it to landscapers and gardeners in and around Oakville. The year was 1962, and the bus was a "cost effective" combination office and delivery truck for George's new company - Van Beek's Garden Supplies.
A lot has changed since 1962, but school buses are still yellow and Van Beek's is still a family run landscape supplies business that believes in offering quality products at fair prices.
Now with garden supplies stores in two convenient locations, Van Beek's is a recognized leader in custom soil mixes, supplying garden centres, golf courses, landscapers and gardeners throughout Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Mississauga, Etobicoke and other parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
