About the Business

Our building dates back to 1864, yes that means the building is 154 years old! Starting as a livery stable, you can say we've been a watering hole for 154 years!



The Ellicott Square building (across the street) was built in 1895 - 1896, and our building became a boarding house for the iron workers that built it. At that time, it was the largest office building in the world. This was the start of our building's history:

a place for workers, immigrants, and business people to gather.



Back then it was THE place for a drink and meal. During the 1900s, the building changed ownership 11 times, always adding, growing, and changing just like Buffalo. After the birth of the Buffalo Hotel (now Coca Cola Field) in the early 20th century, Buffalo's power elite came here (then called Murphy's) to wine and dine.
