About the Business

Treasure City was founded in 2006 by a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting local grassroots non-profits while diverting waste and operating as a collective. They first set up shop in a small former gas station on 12th st. We have grown over the years into a 3000 sq foot space on 7th St and are now a worker cooperative, aiming to donate significant funds to the groups we support while paying a living wage to our workers - and still keep prices among the lowest at Austin thrift stores!

The store also functions as a community space for non-profits working for grassroots change. Check out our social media for info on events by groups we support, monthly sales and other happenings!

Now open on the inside from 1 to 7 pm every Monday through Sunday (except the last Sunday of the month) for shopping and donations! Thanks for visiting us! We started this project in 2006 to raise money and material support for small, local grassroots community groups and projects that traditionally have difficulty finding funding.
