As a general contractor I would often have trades people who didn’t show up for their scheduled work, this was especially true of tile setters. Sometimes I would step in and do the work myself. I found that as my experience grew, I became a better tile settler than most of them and eventually I started scheduling myself instead of hiring others. Clients were happy and scheduled work got completed on time. Win win.
