About the Business

Originally conceptualized by entrepreneur Steve Gordon, the Dive was the first bar to open in the wake of the new corporate entertainment district known as Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville, the name itself is a parody.
It was a beacon for artists, musicians, writers, service industry professionals and tourists alike, and served as a showplace for local vanguard art and punk and independent music with live performances throughout the week right in the window up front.
In the summer of 2010 with the addition of new partners the Dive looked to expand its musical offerings with the addition of other genres while keeping the spirit of the original Dive intact. In June 2011 the bar moved to the space next door creating an opportunity to attract new patrons and take the bar to the next level as a major live music venue in Louisville.
Sadly Steve Gordon passed away in May 2011 but his legacy lives on and the Dive continues to thrive in his absence.

Established in 2006.

Specialties

Is there anything better than a place that bills itself as a dive bar? Located just a block over from Fourth Street Live, it might as well be miles away because the two places are vastly different. The Dive is an experiment in diversity, once a haven for punk rockers and punk rock music, it has expanded it's offerings to include Rock, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Honky Tonk, Country, Swing, Blues, even Jazz from time to time. You can often see mohawked patrons sitting next to uptown suits. There is usually live music on Friday and Saturday nights. What's not to love about a place that has had bands named The Stoner Moms, Coke Dick Motorcycle Awsome, Dead Dick Hammer & The T.B.A. Band, Switchblade Syndicate and Dunebuggy Attack Battalion, perform there? And if that doesn't do it for you how about the fact that PBR flows here? Dive right into the fun.

Business Owner

Rick B. (Business Owner)

Rick and Lynne partnered with Steve Gordon in August 2010 in order to perpetuate and expand on what Steve Started back in 2006.  Rick a recently retired Marine and Lynne a 20 year veteran of the restaurant and bar industry helped revamp the musical offerings, the offerings of the bar, and facilitated the move to the vacant space next door requiring a full re-building of the original bar with improvements to better showcase live music and improve the general operation of the bar while making as few changes as possible to the original concept.
