The Nash opened its doors in April of 2012 with an inspiring educational program for over 130 young students by Lewis Nash and All-stars, featuring jazz legend and educator Wynton Marsalis.

Lewis Nash, for whom the center is named, was raised and born in Phoenix. He began playing drums at age 10 and was drawn to jazz by the age of 18 when he performed with local jazz groups. Now an internationally-renowned drummer, Lewis is acclaimed "most valuable player" in jazz (Modern Drummer Magazine).

Operated by Jazz in AZ, The Nash is the heartbeat of the Valley jazz scene with a focus on connecting musicians and audiences through providing the inclusive, welcoming atmosphere of the nation's top jazz clubs proudly offer.

Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, The Nash brings a full calendar of live music performances and ensures the future of the iconic art of jazz through its music education programs. The Nash hosts classic and modern jazz; local jazz musicians and touring artists in addition to weekly jazz jam sessions. Jazz music education programs are offered for both children and adults ranging from vocal jazz lessons, jazz workshops, and variou jazz ensembles. The Nash is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission to celebrate the rich tradition and ongoing innovation of jazz by presenting quality live performances, providing unique educational programs, and building a vibrant jazz community in the greater Phoenix area and beyond.
