The Nail Social was founded in 2015 as a social enterprise to provide training and employment to the underprivileged in Singapore.

The founders of The Nail Social have been in the nail industry for over 10 years, and were behind another highly-acclaimed lifestyle nail salon named Polished Divas Nail Lounge which opened in 2005.

A mainstay at the hip Haji Lane enclave, The Nail Social is a novel lifestyle concept salon that offers nail and foot massage services, as well as fair trade retail all housed under one roof. Customers can enjoy full access to The Nail Social's complete suite of offerings in a luxuriously intimate setting, including a personal iPad pre-loaded with Netflix, magazines and books, as well as complimentary wine on Friday and Saturday evenings with minimum spend. Customers will also be glad to know that most nail products used are organic, non-toxic, fair trade and cruelty-free, making their visit to the salon environmentally and socially friendly, and safe, even for expectant mothers. Aside from offering a relaxing and therapeutic experience for its customers, The Nail Social hopes to further develop this lifestyle concept into a socially responsible enterprise that creates sustainable, positive impact on the community. Focusing on local underprivileged women, The Nail Social has reached out to single-mothers, ex-offenders and women from low-income households, in hope of empowering them with vocational skills training and thereby paving the way for better life opportunities. We are a proud member of the Social Enterprise Association of Singapore, commendation winner for The President's Challenge Social Enterprise Awards in 2015, and recognized as a Champion of Good by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre in 2018.

I started my first business, Polished Divas Nail Lounge, when I was only 22 years old and and won my first major entrepreneurship award, the Spirit of Enterprise, at 25. Since then, I have been blessed to have been a part of various start-ups. In 2011, I created Singapore's first Pod Hostel and built it up to become one of the top flashpacker hostels in Singapore, only to be forced out of my own company after 2 years by an investor, without receiving a single cent of profit. This episode really opened my eyes to the reality of running a business. I decided then that I did not want to be the kind of entrepreneur who was motivated solely by money and started looking into the idea of running a social enterprise.
