About the Business

'Why do you do it?' is a popular question in my world. Usually followed by the words 'moving sucks'. Well as I'm quick to point out, they just answered their own question. Now of course I don't do it because it sucks, I do it because moving doesn't have to. If life consisted of a book, many new chapters would be bookended by a move. While most reasons for moving are positive in nature, even those difficult ones are usually made to better the lives of those involved. Therefore these new chapters represent milestones and since when don't milestones call for celebration or at the least, self reflection? Movement through life and across this amazing planet should never be associated with the word 'suck'. Yes, I know the moving process can be a drag, however that's where we, The Movesmith, comes in. We allow you to stay focused on these milestones and not get caught up in the stress of moving.

My name is Garret Plunkett.  I'm a 33 year old entrepreneur residing in West Chester, PA. Growing up in the Poconos, I learned how to use my hands and became resourceful at a young age.  I spent my teen years playing team sports while working tirelessly for a landscaping outfit and in multiple hospitality positions.  I went onto study at Penn State earning a Logistics degree in 2006.  Post college I worked for IBM & Kraft Foods, prior to co-founding a successful regional moving company with three locations.  I was fortunate enough to live and develop moving experience in the D.C., NYC and Chicago markets.   Most recently, I served as Operations Manager of a second generation international mover and van line affiliate.  Throughout all my moving experience, I serviced thousands of clients transitioning from around the corner to the other side of the world, all while garnering a deep understanding of the relocation process - both physical and psychological.
