About the Business

The Comedy Corner Underground was founded by Mark Dikhut and Benny Quash to try and make a venue for the ever expanding Minneapolis comedy scene. After a rough and slow first year, the Friday night open mic quickly became an integral part of the scene. Fast forward to 2007 when Benny and new arrival Bob Edwards take over running the room together.

Both consumed by a desire to make a true alternative comedy venue akin to UCB, Benny and Bob undertook promoting the room on a daily basis. After a year the room started to show real success. Friday night's were a hit with the "U" crowd, and Saturday shows were starting to take off.


To keep a really long story short, the room was shut down in summer 2009 due to a licensing conflict with the city. Long story short, like the plot of a bad 80's movie we took a group of comics to city hall and changed the law.

After reopening in Sept 2009, the room has only grown in popularity and has shows almost every week from Thursday-Saturday.

COMEDY! comedy! comedy! To keep it simple. Standup, Video Sketch, Live Sketch, and every weird combination of humor you could (and we like to think many you wouldn't even) think of. We're a club run by a team of volunteer comedians. So everyone from the guy who replied to your reservation email, to the girl taking cash from you at the door is a performer at the club. We take our comedy more serious than most people take their religion.
