About the Business

Prior to moving to Florida, Mel owned and operated Mel's Auto Body in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Thanks to Mel's philosophy, business remained steady for 20 years with 6 to 8 employees and averaging 4 to 5 cars daily. In 2001, Mel sold Mel's Auto Body in Cambridge, Massachusetts to a loyal employee of 10 years, and relocated to Saint Petersburg, Florida.

After settling in the area, Mel worked for a few different repair facilities where he was asked to compromise integrity and workmanship in an effort reduce cost for the business owner, but not the customers. It was at that junction that Mel realized the desperate need for a reparable, high quality, reasonably priced auto body shop in Saint Petersburg. March 2003, The Body Works in Saint Petersburg, Florida, opened its doors.
Today, Mel still maintains his philosophy, "I believe that if you do a great job, at a fair price and hold up to your promises you will receive business based on this reputation".
