About the Business

Singaporean-born Chef Ratha's culinary journey is as diverse and remarkable as the cuisine he crafts. After honing his skills at The Raffles Hotel's Raffles Grill, Ratha moved on to learning under acclaimed French Chefs, including the legendary Alain Ducasse. Recognized as a rising star, Chef Ratha earned several awards during his apprenticeship. In 1993, he took on the role of Head Chef at The Swiss Club Singapore, where he catered to numerous European dignitaries. In 2001, he stepped into the shoes of Michelin-starred Chef Jeremy Hollingsworth at The Fig Leaf, Fort Canning.

Nestled in the heart of the Little India historic district, this charming eatery occupies the first floor of a conservation heritage shophouse, a must-visit destination in one of Singapore's oldest neighbourhoods. The restaurant's setting remains casual and friendly, complementing the vibrant and historic surroundings. The Black Sheep Cafe incorporates the Asian flair (flavours, ingredients and aesthetics) into European fare, creating French classics that reflected the culinary terroir of Singapore. Some of the iconic dishes include Duck Confit with mango relish, Baked Brie with pomelo salad and the famous Pandan Soufflé, garnering a devoted following among local food enthusiasts over the past 17 years.
