Stay Forever came to fruition after Lisa and Michelle became new moms. Struggling with the the idea of returning to a 40-hour work week, they decided there was no better time than maternity leave to open a store in their Queens neighborhood.

Stay Forever opened July 6, 2018, shortly after Lisa's daughter turned seven months and Michelle's daughter turned four months.

After meeting in 2016, shop owners, Michelle Delgado and Lisa Jee, quickly bonded over their love for small business and independent design. Prior to opening the store, Michelle had spent seven years at Etsy HQ helping makers of all levels scale their business through Etsy's B2B Marketplace, Etsy Wholesale. As a Seller Growth lead, Michelle was able to collaborate with Lisa who was, then, the Creative Director and Lead Merchandiser at NYC's largest independent bookstore, The Strand. This collaboration was part of Etsy Wholesale's Mind of a Retail Buyer series where Lisa gave makers tips for branding and packaging their items for retail.
