About the Business

Sorrento has been producing the finest in Italian cuisine since 1949 from its original location on William Street with Papa Ribaudio at the helm. After relocating to James Street it was taken over by Alfonso Di Lanzo who continues to entertain with a welcoming smile, sparkle in his eyes & the occasional joke all behind his irresistible, Latin charm.
The success of Sorrento can be measured by many factors including the longevity of the staff , the family atmosphere & its traditional food prepared with the freshest of ingredients.
In 1998, Alfonso & Tina refurbished the restaurant. With its series of arches, beautiful hand-forged wrought iron, timber wine shelves & granite topped bar, it now echoes the local trattorie found in their home towns of Italy.
In 2001, with the arrival of an Italian pizza maker from Naples, Sorrento installed a pizza oven to provide patrons a broader menu selection.
A testament to its longevity is having fed generations of families - making it an institution

Established in 1949.

Business Owner

Alfonso D. (Business Owner)

Alfonso was born in Italy & after some time in Paris landed in Perth in the 1960s. Having trained as a tailor, he established an atelier on St George's Terrace making suits for businessmen & stage costumes for television personalities. However, like most Italians, he had a great passion for food especially like that prepared back in his original home.
