About the Business
The luck of the flip of a coin would eventually be responsible for the opening of Sol Azteca. In the 1960's Mexican native, Rafael Osornio, by chance ended up working as a chef in a Boston-area restaurant and learned the cooking skills that would lead him to open Sol Azteca in 1974 and be its first chef.

We pride ourselves on traditional, fresh from scratch recipes. No canned sauces here! You can see the chopped onions and fresh cilantro in our salsa. One of the most traditional sauces in Mexico, the "Mole" (pronounced: mol-eh) is made here from scratch, as are all our sauces. Tortillas are made daily in house, chips hand-fried, house-infused spicy tequila.
