About the Business

Carl and Janice Freeman came to Anna Maria Island in 1936 on thier honeymoon from Illinois, and found this little spot on the beach. They said they would come back one day and start a little business, and in 1952 they did just that. Now some 59 yrs later, their daughter Jan, and Grandson Clark are running the place, along with the help and support of their family both here in Bradenton, and in Califonia.. Grandma Skinny just turned 94 in April and loves to be out at Skinnys whenever she can! If your lucky and you can catch her sweeping up in the joint & you might just here some really great stories, and some True history of Anna Maria Island from the late 30's and on. Grandpa Skinny had leased the business for a number of years, and when he passed in 2001 we changed the name to Skinny's Place to honor him, after all he built and started the beach shack in the 50's and we wanted to honor that, and Grandma Skinny.Great Burgers (Voted #1) Frosted Mugs, on Beautiful Anna Maria Island

Skinny's is an open air beach pub, a classic untouched place, one of the few left alone and original- with that said its not a fancy place, no windows, no fancy tables or chairs, just screened in wood framed windows,with an old wooden bar! So if your ready to relax, enjoy a fresh burger and frosted mug of beer, or A glass bottle of coke- come by Skinny's, your on Island Time!
