About the Business

Sinclairs began life in 1949 in Watergate, Doncaster. Edna Sinclair, grandmother to the current directors of Sinclairs, opened a shop after the war when china and crystal was still in short supply.

In the 1960s the second generation of Sinclairs forged their own paths in the china business. John Sinclair opened his first shop on Glossop Road, in Sheffield, in 1967. The shop initially occupied a small part of a Regency terrace and was gradually expanded with the addition of a kitchenware shop and a luxury leather department.

In 2004 the decision was taken to renew the building for the 21st Century. A multi-award winning, bespoke building was completed in 2006 and Sinclairs re-opened as a fashion led mini department store.

Sinclairs has also expanded further afield, opening specialist shops in Stamford and in London and a factory outlet shop at Lakeside Village in Doncaster.
