About the Business

After leaving one of the most recognized and award winning salons in Arlington, Terry opened Salon Purple in the neighborhood where he grew up. Salon Purple is one of the first anchor businesses in the revitalization area of The Riverside Arts District. Salon Purple is located in the historic McAdams building, which was built in 1931. We have enjoyed steady growth and have expanded twice since opening in 2008.

We're an eclectic bunch: masters of our craft, wise, and a little weird. In our salon, creativity and imagination run free. We specialize in colored hair, curly hair, and individuality. Owner, Terry Whiddon, is a national, award-winning colorist who's taught his craft all over the world. In 2008, he brought his knowledge back to his roots to open Salon Purple in the prosperous city of Fort Worth. Customers at our salon are welcomed by a team of experts, vibrant colors, works of art, and music everywhere they turn. It's no wonder we have customers visit from all over the world for this unforgettable experience.

Terry started his career in 1999, going to work at the hottest salon in Arlington, Texas. While there, he had the privilege of training with several international hair dressers of the year. He quickly became an in salon educator helping the salon rise to become one of the most award winning and reconized salons in arlington. After nine years, he opened his first salon in the neighborhood where he grew up. Terry became an artistic educator with Pravana, he grew into becoming a national artictic educator and hair show back room model coordinator. Terry left Pravana to follow his true passion of cutting when he joined the national design team for Neuma. Terry joined ColorProof as a national platform artist, which has elevatated Terry into becoming one of the most sought after curly specialists in the country.
