This business was started by two ethnobotanists who have a serious love and respect for the traditional medicinal systems that have been employed by every culture throughout history. Kava is by far the most important medicinal of ancient Polynesia. The beverages made from it have been enjoyed in the South Pacific Islands for over 3,000 years! Known as the "intoxicating pepper," it promotes a positive mood and tames the day-to-day stresses of life while also promoting physical relaxation. This unique combination makes it a perfect alternative to other more damaging social lubricants. We have decided to bring kava culture to Northern California, so come on in, enjoy a shell, and see what the buzz is about. Bula!

The owners, Tyler and Travis, have been studying traditional medicinal plants for over 10 years. Their travels have taken them to 35+ countries to collect and document nearly 3,000 species of medicinal plants. The two own one of the longest standing ethnobotanical research and distribution companies in North America as well as a 200-acre Peruvian retreat center where people can travel to the Amazon for a week and learn about the 600 species of medicinal plants growing on the property. They are members of several professional organizations relating to the fields of herbalism and ethnobotany as well as the founders of the American Kava Association, an organization dedicated to the responsible distribution of Kava in North America.
