About the Business
Quimby's Bookstore NYC was opened in December 2016 by the original founder of Quimby's Bookstore in Chicago, Steven Svymbersky. After selling Quimby's Bookstore in 1997, Steven moved to Amsterdam, where he worked for 19 years as the technical director at the Improv Comedy theater, Boom Chicago. After his children moved to Amherst, MA he decided to return to the states and open a second Quimby's Bookstore in New York. He was lucky to find a space right next door to Desert Island Comics, the finest collection of underground comics and graphic arts in New York. Together they bring Brooklyn the largest selection of amazing publications to be found in one location.
