About the Business

After 6 years of participating in the Downtown Brampton Farmers Market (and still to this day) selling fresh pastries and bread, Queen Gypsy opened a place right downtown across from City Hall. 10 Main Street South.

After the opening of the downtown location, the first year was baked delights such as the ones provided at the farmers market. Soon after the acquisition of a liquor license there was a format change to lunches and dinners in a restaurant atmosphere offering eastern European dishes with the option of alcoholic beverages as well.

Since then, the community has accepted and enjoyed the benefits of eating home cooked food outside the home, while still feeling you are at home. Most people know the owners by first name. Kinda feels like one big happy family.

Vera offers a menu with eastern European food prepared the exact same way her mother taught her. Such things as pierogies (best seller) and pork schnitzel smothered with caramelized onions or sauerkraut. Soul food such as goulash, cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, and gypsy stew. Hidden gem on the menu is Roasted Red Pepper Feta Bruschetta. A very unique specialty on the menu is a Serbian dish called Karadjordjeva! A flattened piece of pork rolled into a tube and stuffed with a Serbian cream cheese called Kajmuk, then breaded and deep fried. When you cut into it, it oozes onto a bed of rice. And as usual, dishes are served with two homemade salads and signature feta cheese infused cornbread. Everything is made fresh, nothing from frozen, and absolutely no preservatives. Desserts include homemade blueberry stuffed pierogies served with fresh fruit and cream. Also, cheese cake drizzled with blueberry reduction and fresh fruit. And most recently added to the dessert menu is Vera's own fan favourite baklava! Join us for a night of great homemade food, good music, and good vibes.
