OK YAKI started out in East Atlanta Village in July 2016 by renting the kitchen at We Suki Suki serving Okonomiyaki on paper plates for the Global Grub Collective. In 2017 the pop-up moved to AMER kitchen in Inman Park. In June 2017 OK YAKI started it's pop-up tent on Noni's patio for late night Okonomiyaki.

While studying Japanese at Osaka University for a year, Corban fell in love with this "Eat Till You Drop" city's signature dish, Okonomiyaki. Amazed that a food so good could be pretty much non-existent in his home town of Atlanta, he decided to learn all he could by cooking with Japanese friends and throwing numerous Okonomiyaki parties with fellow exchange students. He came back to the US with a passion to share the experience of this wonderful food and a dream of one day opening his own restaurant. In the summer of 2016, he started his first pop-up restaurant project, and OK YAKI was born.
