About the Business
In December of 2004, the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette announced the planned closure of its Northeast facility after 80 years of service to the community. This brought forth an outpouring of support for the cherished institution, which resulted in the formation of the not-for-profit Northeast Community Center (NECC). On February 1, 2005, the NECC jumped into action and opened its doors - just two months after the announced closure.
The NECC objective is to provide a safe, clean environment where Metro area residents of all ages and backgrounds participate in recreational, educational, and physical activities in a climate of mutual respect and care. As funding allows, the NECC may consider requests for financial assistance to individuals and families who wish to belong.
The NECC maintains a strong, diverse, involved membership, whose needs are met through programs and opportunities that strengthen our community.
