About the Business

Modelmania first began as a modest business in the former Ringwood Arcade, which was a at 88 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood. It was original called Wayside Stamps & Hobbies. After two years, the business moved to the Midway Arcade also in Ringwood, and after another two years, moved to a premises more than twice the size as business become more involved in more and more hobbies. As the stamp scene had changed, that was dropped from the name and remained Wayside hobbies until 1999. In 1995 a second store was opened at 268 Flinders Lane, Melbourne a was called Modelmania. The name originated from a great store that was in Bristol in the UK.

Modelmania has been operating in the hobby business since 1983 and continue to operate one of the largest die-cast outlets in Australia. We stock over 100 brands, in excess of 3000 products all placed into our 130m² showroom. Our showroom is located at 94 Elizabeth Street in the city of Melbourne, placed between Collins and Little Collins Streets. We are positioned upstairs on the Mezzanine Level.
