About the Business
From Market Square's origins as a public market place on the 16th June 1855, our history is reflected in our various plaques and historical displays within the Centre.
Market Square Shopping Centre, as we know it today started construction in 1984, incorporating the Heritage listed CML building which now houses the original Market Square Clock tower which was erected on this site from 1856 and the facade of the Corio Stores on Little Malop Street and the Solomons Building on Moorabool Street.
The Shopping Centre was opened in December 1985 and underwent a re-development in 2007. Market Square is considered the heart of Geelong, Geelong's own, community shopping centre.
